Browning BPR 22LR Ammunition

| June 25, 2016 | 5 Comments

Browning recently has partnered with Winchester to deliver three new .22LR products branded Browning BPR (Browning Performance Rimfire).

  1. 37gr. fragmenting BPR designed to fragment upon striking a varmint transferring all of its energy on target
  2. 40gr. High velocity hollow point with a muzzle velocity of 1,435 delivering 183 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle for maximum down range performance.
  3. Browning has also features a standard 40gr .22LR bulk pack product ideal for semi automatic pistols and rifles. Producing a velocity of 1255fps and 140foot pounds of energy at the muzzle. This is the ammunition I will be testing today in a Browning Buckmark for accuracy and reliability.

As show in the video the Browning Buckmark and Browning BPR ammunition proved to be a perfect match. Though a short video I put 300 rounds of the BPR down range without any issues. Federal Automatch has received rave reviews since it’s release, this Browning ammunition performed just as well.

I recently purchased a 1000 round box of brownings 22LR 36 grain ammo. I tried loading it in an old revolver and the bullets would not fit. I then tried loading the bullets into an older Remington semi auto rifle. The bullets do not feed. I measured some of the bullets and found that are almost all .225-.226 diameter. I measured some federal 22LR rounds which all measured .223-.224. I will never buy browning ammo again and now I have to figure out what to do with this large box of garbage.

  4. Jacob I would document this with pictures, call browning and get an email address to send your pictures to and they will take care of you. If you can’t reach anyone at Browning contact Winchester directly as this ammo is made by Winchester for Browning.

I purchased a thousand rounds of the Browning BPR 22LR hollow point 40 grain 1435 velocity ammo. I also purchased a new out of the box BuckMark Medalion which I cleaned and oiled before taking it to the range. The ammo was slightly longer than my CCI or Winchester ammo. At least one round failed to feed in 8 out 10 clips. The jammed ammo rounds were bent where the bullet joined the casing. One round filed to fire and had to be manually removed from the barrel.

I also loaded one clip for my Glock model 44 (.22LR. The ammo would not load when the slide was pulled back so I unloaded the clip instead of trying to solve problem at the range.
