Congrats To The Overall Winner

Congrats to Armin as the over all winner.

Feel free to download and print the target but I am not accepting anymore more entries for this challenge. Please see the Gone Fishing Challenge.

It’s Really Simple: Do You Have The Guts To Go All The Way?

Rules Of Engagement

All Targets Shot At 50 Yards

Challenge to run May1st – May31st

Max points 200

1 shot per target

Keep shooting until you miss, time runs out, you clear the target or chose to stop after shooting all 3 rows.– 190 second time limit.

Clock does not start until you take your first shot. If you have to magazine change and 20seconds of additional time for your magazine change. If you only have one magazine stop the clock to load and start on the first shot. If you are shooting a single fed no magazine you get 30 seconds per target.

When you miss, the scoreboard resets to zero and you start all over again at the first row/biggest target as long as you have time left. The 190 second clock NEVER resets. A miss is defined as not hitting the target at all.

You can elect to stop only after you have completed all three rows. Those points on the board will be accepted as your final score. Again ANY miss and you start back at target one with zero points.

Scoring – Center ring totally gone is 10 points. White ring next to center is 9 points. Green ring 8 points etc just like an official ara target. Scoring is based on the worst edge scoring method. A bullet hole that breaks a line is given the lower value. This is the same method used in ARA.

The only time worst edge doesn’t count is when you hit the center and can’t
see any of the center circle line that’s a 10. = Dayattherange rule

Range Fans Range Fans The Winner of this challenge will be blessed with a beautiful painting you can hang up any where in your home it is just that amazing.

It has captured what I see as a beautiful peaceful day at the cabin listening to the water run down the stream with the 75 yard target in the center of the portrait.

The X-Factor

For example in the X2 row you score a 8 across this row of targets your score would be 24 then multiply that by 2 for a total of 48

For example in the X3 row you score a 8 across this row of targets your score would be 24 then multiply that by 3 so it would be 72

The bottom two small targets, what I call the try or cry targets is a flat 10 points no matter where you hit it.

  1. drpietrzak says:

I have the rule correct here.

    1) Score foundation is worst edge.
    2) 10 only of 10 circle is obliterated.
    3) Exception to worst edge is touching outermost ring counts as a hit. Points awarded as best edge (4).
    4) Small circles scored 10 points based on best edge hit anywhere.

  2. Steve Toneff says:

The top two scores do not seem to be correct. I don’t think some know how to score this target. It’s different than what most shooters are used to.

  3. Samuel M. says:

I am very confused. If that is the scoring criteria, I dont understand how that top target by Jim Davis is scored correctly. How is it even possible to get 9?

  4. drpietrzak says:

It was a fun challenge. Results sent.

  5. He scored the target wrong which he owned up to. There are a lot of us that has never heard about ARA scoring before. Though he scored the target he did ask me to look at it and I scored it MUCH different A LOT LOWER. Steve tell me what you think the scores are for each target and I will have another good look for comparison.

  6. Samuel He scored it wrong by mistake many of us never heard of ARA scoring before. On top of that I don’t help any as I always add a little twist to try and keep it FUN. I posted his score much lower that what’s in the picture.

  7. Yes sir I got ya. Working 60 hour weeks and should be able to have all scores posted this weekend and be caught up.

  8. Steve Toneff says:

Bere’s what I get for scores. I hope my spreadsheet copies ok in here.

SHOOTER SCORE 1st Row 2nd Row 3rd Row Small
    Jim Davis 148 8, 8, 8 = 24 7, 8, 7 = 44 7, 6, 7 = 60 20
    Armin 138 6, 10, 8 = 24 8, 7, 7 = 44 6, 6, 6 = 54 20
    Andy L From Ga 144 6, 8, 8 = 22 10, 6, 5 = 42 10, 5, 5 = 60 20
    Cam2hunt 138 7, 7, 8 = 22 7, 7, 7 = 42 7, 5, 6 = 54 20
    Mike Hewitt – Long Rifle 131 7, 10, 7 = 24 4, 10, 10 = 48 5, 4, 4 = 39 20
    Mr.Revolverguy 129 7, 8 ,4 = 19 6, 7, 5 = 36 4, 10, 4 = 54 20
    KFW 124 6, 6, 7 = 19 6, 7, 4 = 34 6, 5, 6 = 51 20
    Walnut and Steel 118 7, 7, 7 = 21 6, 5, 8 = 38 5, 4, 4 = 39 20
    Brotuned 117 7, 7, 6 = 20 5, 5, 6 = 32 5, 5, 5 = 45 20
    Walnut and Steel 98 8, 6, 6 = 20 4, 7, 7 = 36 4, 6, 4 = 42 0

  9. Samuel M says:

The way I would score the top one for Jim Davis would be , top row 8, 8, 8, middle row, 7, 10, 7, and bottom row, 7, 6, 7 and the bottom 2 as 10. For a total of 152 after the multiplication.

For the second one for Armin, the target looks Ok. On the middle row, depends if the outside ones are 10s or 8s but he says he plugged them in the video.

I think the main thing to make clear here is that you cannot get a score of 9 on a single target. Its either a 10 or 8 or lower. The nine circle is too small to be worst edge.

  10. Yeah 9 is about nearly impossible. I am surely not perfect when coming up with the target scheme and layout. Just trying to come up with something fun and different.
I printed Jim’s target he actually emailed me again to say he graded wrong and for me to look over his target again. So the best I could tell I printed it and looked under a magnifying glass came up with a 157. 8 8 8 – 8 10 7 – 7 7 7

  11. drpietrzak says:

You doing great with these. Something different.

  12. James M. says:

It looked like a great day. Wind was barely rustling a leaf until I got outside of town, where it was a steady 10 knotts. I had some Norma Tac that was holding a decent group so I went for it. I only have one magazine (2 more on order) but I was confident/cocky that I could shoot the top 3, load 3, and clear the next two rows….without stopping the timer. Everything was running smoothly up until #8 – MISS!! I started over, ran empty on the second row, and just couldn’t get reloaded fast enough to finish. That Norma is slick 😄.

  13. Oh yeah it takes some planning also. Thats what me and my son screwed up the first time. We were so confident we didn’t load any extra magazines or anything.

  14. Mitch says:

Hi, greets from good old Europe. I like this challenge, but is there a version for bigger calibers like .308?

  15. bfox87 says:

how we submit to get on the leaderboard? can we submit again if we better our score

  16. Bdfox87 says:

Hope all is well, you must be super busy with everything you do, looking forward to hearing from you again

  17. Check your email. I replied on the 12th and sent another email today.

  18. Brendon Benson says:

Me crying all the way home never going to happen lol but doing all the cooking and cleaning could be on the cards 😄

  19. Seth says:

I think we might have to come up with some sort of rimfire anonymous help group like (AAA) 😂 I’m in pretty deep myself

  20. john jiracek says:

Hi, I just sho the Captain America Challenge….How do I send in the target ? Thank You, John

  21. Got your target and just entered your score WOW way to go
