Kimber82G and Lapua Biathlon Xtreme
Not so much Extreme weather (35Degrees) but I was excited to bring you this new Lapua ammo with a quick view of the new Ransom Rifle Rest.
This Lapua ammo just recently showed up on the market for us normal shooters. Lapua claims
“The Lapua Biathlon Xtreme cartridge uses a newly developed, temperature insensitive powder that functions in all biathlon conditions. The bullet’s special shape ensures reliable and easy functioning and together with the new powder it provides unbeatable accuracy and consistent velocities. During product development, the Lapua Biathlon Xtreme cartridge endured extensive laboratory testing and calculations as well as demanding field testing for function and accuracy by two of the world’s top biathlon teams.”
We will test for some groups in the Kimber 82G and a few other rifles with chronograph results in the future.
I am new to shooting 22 rimfire at more than 25yds. I am 64 years old and my father started me shooting BB guns at 5yrs old him and I spent the rest of his life shooting together. all for fun I have been watching you on youtube and I like what I have been seeing. The next time I get to the the range I will shoot your target and send it to you. Thanks for your time. Jimmy Patterson
Jimmy glad to see you take a shot at it — literally ? I will be anxiously waiting to see your submission best of luck.
Just sold my Kimber 82G last month, December 2020. Loved the gun, but in seven years of shooting (NRA Smallbore F-Class), I managed to score only ONE 200 target; too many others in the mid-190s scores. So I finally ordered a Vudoo V22S in July 2020, and received it also last month. Finished the 1,000-round barrel break-in last week. Plan to submit 22LR Callout/Challenge target(s?) whenever my favorite range dries up from recent rains (which we really needed here in south Texas – San Antonio).
Meanwhile, continuing to enjoy Day At The Range videos. Well shot! ?
Mr. RevolverGuy,
Is your Kimber 82G fully free-floated? Can you run a dollar bill between the barrel and stock with no drag while the rifle is parallel to the ground? I have an 82G and the barrel is in contact with the stock at the very front of the rifle; bottom of the stock inlet. Should gently relieve the area so as to have the barrel 100% free of contact?
Any thoughts guys? Thanks ya’ll!
Jeff, answering your questions:
My 82G…
Is your Kimber 82G fully free-floated? YES
Can you run a dollar bill between the barrel and stock with no drag while the rifle is parallel to the ground? YES, and that’s even with a Harrell barrel tuner mounted on the muzzle. (But I have since moved the barrel tuner to my Vudoo.)
You’ve probably already done this, but just in case, check the trigger guard/action bolts for absolutely full tightened down.
